Background
The MTB Challenge is an official event of the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Lifecycle Week and part of the build-up to the annual Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour.
The event celebrates its 11th anniversary this year, with the 2012 edition returning to Boschendal Wine Estate for the tenth time.
From its humble beginnings with 700 entrants, the MTB Challenge has since grown from strength to strength, and is now considered to be one of the biggest mountain bike events of its kind in South Africa.
The MTB Challenge expanded to a two-day event in 2010 and this format continues to be a success. A third distance will be added to the more hardcore Sunday event in 2011.
Something for everyone
Whether your are looking for a short farm meander with the family or a challenge that will take you to your limits and beyond, the routes offer something for everyone and all riders – from novice to podium contenders – will find the perfect route to suit their unique skill and fitness levels.
And if you prefer relaxing with a glass in your hand instead of gripping the handlebars then book a picnic, bring the family and sample some of Boschendal’s exquisite wines in the picturesque surrounds of the Franschhoek valley.
